Let's go for a walk around Polotsk. This ancient city, which has a thousand-year history, attracted the attention of iconic figures of the past and served as a source of inspiration for creators. During the tour, we will immerse ourselves in bygone eras, get acquainted with unique historical sites, original architecture of the XI-XVIII centuries and picturesque panoramas of the Western Dvina.
St. Sophia Cathedral, which is not only the hallmark of the city, but also a significant symbol of the whole of Belarus, will give unforgettable emotions. Not far from St. Sophia Cathedral is the Borisov Stone, a magnificent monument of writing from the 12th century. This huge boulder has a special energy power and is able to fulfill your wishes.
Next, we will visit the Museum of Book Printing, whose exposition covers all stages of the book's development from the first handwritten texts to modern editions and introduces the history of writing, book graphics and printing art.
On Nizhne-Pokrovskaya Street we will see the preserved house where Peter I lived in the summer of 1705.
We will visit a small Museum of medieval Chivalry, where we will feel the atmosphere of the Middle Ages and see household items, weapons, and instruments of torture from previous years.
On the way, we will visit the geographical center of Europe and understand why it is located in Polotsk. We will take a photo at the monuments to Francis Skarina and the letter of the Belarusian alphabet "Ў".
Let's go to the memorial to the soldiers-liberators of 1812 and to the building of the former Jesuit collegium, where the Historical and Philological faculty of Polotsk State University is located today.
We will visit the oldest museum in the city, where we will learn about the birth of the city, the development of international trade relations in the city, the difficult periods in his life, the famous Polochans and much more.
