Polotsk through the eyes of children.
Description
We will start our acquaintance with Polotsk, the oldest city in Belarus, with a breathtaking view of the Western Dvina. At the very beginning, we will visit the famous St. Sophia Cathedral, explore its museum collection, and descend into the ancient cellars.
Let's go to the Borisov stone and admire its size. We'll walk around the stone three times and make a wish...They say it comes true 100%!
Later, we will consider the majestic monument "Polotsk – the source of the Belarusian statehood", symbolizing the key role of Polotsk in the formation and development of Belarusian history, which captures important historical moments, architectural objects and prominent personalities of particular importance both for Polotsk and for the whole of Belarus.
Next, we will visit the Museum of Book Printing. The museum's exposition covers all stages of the book's development from the first handwritten texts to modern editions and introduces the history of writing, book graphics and printing art.
Walking along the ancient streets of the city, we will feel the spirit of the time when the legendary Prince Vseslav the Magician of Polotsk, the first printer Francis Skorina and many other prominent personalities walked here. Let's wave to them!
Let's not miss the chance to take a photo in the heart of Europe near the memorial sign and touch the favorite letter of the Belarusian alphabet — "Ў".
Let's go to the one-of-a-kind Children's Museum in Belarus, the exposition of which is divided into thematic sections: clocks, samovars, letters and postcards, bells and more. Let's look at the exhibits and play in special interactive zones.
We will visit one of the best Natural and ecological museums in the country. We will study with interest the rich variety of fish, birds, insects, and animals presented here. We also learn about the environmental problems of the modern Belarusian land.
In general, during such a trip, children will be able to get a lot of impressions and useful knowledge.
