Vitebsk surroundings: I. E. Repin's Museum-estate "Zdravnevo"-Luzhesno-Vitebsk-Bolshye Lettsy.
Description
Welcome to an exciting journey through the picturesque surroundings of Vitebsk! We will explore the places that inspired the great Russian artist Ilya Repin, as well as the historical and spiritual monuments of this region.
The first stop is the Museum-estate of I. E. Repin "Zdravnevo". Here, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, Repin drew inspiration and created many of his famous works. A memorial exhibition is waiting for us in the restored manor house, telling about the artist's life and work in Zdravnevo.
Next, our way lies to the village of Luzhesno, where we will get acquainted with the architectural monument of the early 20th century – the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and also see the preserved building of the former agricultural school, built in the early 20th century in the Art Nouveau style.
In Vitebsk, we will visit St. Barbara's Church, a monument of eclectic architecture from 1785, the Marc Chagall House Museum, the restored Great Lubavitcher Synagogue, and the Holy Trinity Markov Monastery. If time permits, we will stop at one of the most mysterious places in Vitebsk, Yuryeva Gorka, to take a walk.
The final point of the route is Bolshye Lettsy, where we will be able to see the remains of the Adamov estate, namely the manor house of the late 19th - early 20th century.
On this journey around Vitebsk, we will touch the history, art and spirituality of this region, discovering new facets of its beauty and charm.
