Just 10 kilometers from Ukraine are Doropeevichi, which are based on the banks of the oldest reclamation canal in Belarus, the 16th–century Bona Sforza Canal.
It is home to one of the oldest churches in the region, the Orthodox Church of the Nativity of the Mother of God, which was built during the time of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania in 1671.

Doropeevichi. Church of the Nativity of the Mother of God.

The canal was built by order of Queen of Poland and Grand Duchess of Lithuania Bona Sforza in the 16th century and today it is the oldest canal of its type in Belarus. 
The canal originates in the Malorita district near the village of Zaorye and flows through the Malorita and Kobrin districts and then flows into the Mukhavets River in the city of Kobrin.

The Orthodox Church of the Nativity of the Mother of God is an architectural monument of wooden architecture. 
The Church of the Nativity of the Mother of God was built in the 19th century, but its predecessors were already here before it: the church was first mentioned during the time of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania in 1574.

Chernyany. The Church of the Nativity of the Mother of God.

Since ancient times, the estate had a palace and a landscape park with outbuildings.
All this burned down during the Second World War, only the landscape park has been preserved, in which some trees have reached the age of more than 200 years. 
It's good to take a leisurely stroll here and take a break from the hustle and bustle.

Velikorita. Park at the Troekurov-Leshchinsky estate.

It is believed that the oldest oak in Belarus, the Pozhezhinsky Tsar Oak, is located here.
The tree has the status of a botanical natural monument of national significance and is located three kilometers east of the village of Novoe Romatovo. 
Experts have determined that this king oak is about 800 years old!!!
The height of the tree is 46 meters, and the diameter is more than 2 meters.
There are information stands near the oak tree and there is even a playground for tourists: a gazebo and a clearing to put up a tourist tent.
Imagine how many things this ancient giant has seen in his lifetime!

Novoe Romatovo. Pozhezhinsky Tsar-oak.

The ancient wooden Church of the Nativity of the Mother of God (the date of construction of the temple is considered to be the era of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, or rather 1713) was built in the traditions of folk wooden architecture with features of the Baroque era. 
There are choirs and an iconostasis, which was created in the early 19th century. There are ancient icons from the 16th and 18th centuries, including the "Mother of God Odigitria" and "St. Nicholas the Wonderworker." A wooden two-tiered bell tower was built in front of the church in the 19th century.

Lyakhovtsy. Church of the Nativity of the Mother of God.

In some historical sources, the church of St. Nicholas is called a chapel, and in some it is called a church. 
It was built during the Russian Empire in 1835. 
The building is wooden, built in the traditions of folk architecture.
This church housed a unique 17th-century icon, 'The Birth of the Mother of God', which is now on display in Minsk at the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus.

Lyakhovtsy. Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker.

The church was built in a pseudo-Russian style with elements of folk architecture in 1908 on the site of the ancient Uniate church of 1668.
The interior of the church contained ancient Uniate icons, which were taken to museums in Minsk after the war. 
Among these icons are the "Intercession of the Mother of God" from 1649 and the "Transfiguration" from 1648.

Malorita. Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker.

The Orthodox Church of the Transfiguration was built in the Baroque style in 1752.
The iconostasis with ancient icons was taken to an Art museum in Minsk.

Khotislav. Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord.

The ancient Orthodox church was built in the 17th century in the Baroque style with elements of Belarusian folk wooden architecture.
There are ancient icons of the 16th and 18th centuries: "The Nativity of Christ", "Savior Not Man-Made", "Descent from the Cross", "Archangel Michael" and others.

Oltush. Church of the Transfiguration of the Savior.

To this day, a stone Orthodox chapel has been preserved in the local cemetery, which was consecrated in honor of St. Alexei.
The building was built in 1872 in the classical style.
In recent years, the chapel has been renovated and is operational.
