Ivatsevichi region: history, architecture and the fate of great people.
Description
Take a guided tour of Ivatsevichi and its surroundings! Our tour will cover interesting settlements such as Byten, Ivatsevichi, Nekhachevo, Goschevo, Belavichi, Busyazh and Kossovo.
The tour will start from the agro-town of Byten. Here we will visit the Assumption Church, the interior of which is decorated with unique Uniate and Orthodox icons of the XVI–XVIII centuries.
Further in the city of Ivatsevichi we will see the Yundzill's estate, which is an architectural monument. It reflects the elegance of the classical style of the XVIII–XIX centuries.
We will also visit the Struve Arc, a symbol of scientific progress. It is a network of 265 triangulation points stretching for 2,820 kilometers from Norway to Ukraine through the territory of ten countries.
In the village of Nekhachevo, we will see the building of the former postal station, built in 1846. Today, a hotel complex operates on its territory.
The Exaltation of the Holy Cross church in Goschevo is a temple with a rich historical heritage. Its architecture includes a prayer hall and an apse, and the main facade is decorated with four-sided towers.
We will visit the wooden Orthodox church in Belavichi, an example of folk architecture combining elements of Baroque and classicism. In the 19th century, a stone bell-tower gate was built in front of the temple, which is an independent architectural monument.
In the town of Kossovo, you will see a Catholic chapel in the cemetery, a rare example of the retrospective Gothic style. Its compact rectangular building with a gable roof resembles a small medieval fortress.
We will also visit the Tadeusz Kosciuszko Manor-Museum, the birthplace of the national hero of Belarus, Poland and the USA.
The pearl of this tour is the Puslovsky Palace, an architectural monument of the 19th century, located on a hill with stunning panoramas of the surrounding area.
The tour ends with a visit to the 18th-century stone Orthodox Church of the Assumption in the village of Busyazh.
