Grudinovka - Bykhov - Barkolabovo.

Description

We start the trip with a visit to the family estate of the Counts Tolstoy, located in the village of Grudinovka. We will examine the remains of the estate, which belonged to the Tolstoy family until the beginning of the 20th century. After the revolutionary events, the owners were forced to leave the country and their possessions became state property. Over the years, the building housed a military hospital, a children's sanatorium for the treatment of rheumatism, as well as a boarding school. Unfortunately, this had an impact on the appearance of the building... We will walk around the adjacent territory and explore the green spaces of the park in Grudinovka, which is one of the most valuable monuments of landscape art in the republic.

We will continue our journey with a trip to the city of Bykhov. Let's start our research with the main pearl of the city - Bykhov Castle, built in the Baroque style with Renaissance architecture elements. The palace and Park complex previously included various outbuildings. Barracks with corner towers were located around the perimeter of the courtyard. All the buildings formed a single enclosed complex. Currently, only fragments of the castle have been preserved, which we will carefully inspect and study.

Next, we will visit the synagogue, an interesting architectural monument of the defensive type, built in the Renaissance style in the 17th century.

Then we will visit the Church of the Holy Life-Giving Trinity, which existed in Bykhov back in the 18th century and will continue to visit important Orthodox shrines in the region.

Then we'll visit Barkolabovo agro-town. On the main street there is the Church of the Kazan Mother of God, an architectural monument of the pseudo-Russian style, built in 1904. Next stop at the Holy Ascension Convent, whose history begins in the middle of the 17th century. The Miraculous Icon of the Mother of God of Barkolabovskaya, especially revered by believers, is kept here.
