Gorodok and Shumilino districts: Kuzmino-Gorodok-Leskovichi-Pobeda-Obol-Kozyansky Reserve.
Description
Our tour begins near the building of the former postal station, which is made of brick according to the design of 1846 and has preserved its main house, wing, barn with cellar, carriage house and well. The design of the building harmoniously combines the features of the pseudo-Gothic style and the classical trend. These stations served as a resting place for travelers, where they could change horses and receive mail.
Next, we head to the Gorodok, where the Gorodok Regional Museum of Local Lore was created to popularize knowledge about the history of the region. Famous writer Konstantin Verenitsyn (1834-1903), the author of the poem 'Taras on Parnassus', comes from these places.
The following locations will be ancient religious buildings: the Church of St. Sergius of Radonezh in the village of Leskovichi, built in 1878 and an architectural monument of the retrospective Russian style, and the Assumption Church, built in 1898 from unpainted red brick in the retrospective Russian style, next to which there is a holy spring, famous since the 17th century. which helps people with eye diseases and attracts many pilgrims here today.
Then we will visit the Grebnitsky manor, built in the early 19th century in the classical style. The Grebnitskys are a well–known family, whose coat of arms is considered the oldest knightly coat of arms in Poland. Florian, the most famous member of the family, restored St. Sophia Cathedral in Polotsk.
We finish our route at the Kozyansky marshes, which are famous for their incredible atmosphere, and many travelers call them the Belarusian Mercury because of the characteristic landscape. Fascinating excursions are organized here, allowing you to see unearthly landscapes, unique flora and fauna, as well as listen to the most interesting stories of the reserve staff.
All this and much more awaits you to meet interested and inquisitive tourists!
