Description
The eastern outskirts of Mogilev oblast: ruins-therapy and stalking.
Due to the historical events and the consequences of the Chernobyl accident, this region is not as rich in preserved heritage as Western Belarus, but it deserves the attention of tourists.
Abandoned churches and churches, towns and villages in the exclusion zone that have disappeared forever from the map - all this is a reminder that humanity sometimes needs to think about the possible consequences of its activities.
Ruins are not dead, they are a hymn to life.
They're about how you can stay. Even when everything collapsed. They don't pretend that everything is fine with them. They're standing. Silently, stubbornly, out of spite. And there is some great power in this.
And although some people have left them and forgotten, others always come to them. They take pictures. Watching. They are silent. They feel something inside. They freeze. Because there is beauty in the ruins. Different, imperfect, strange. But it's real. Yes, not for everyone, only for "their own".
And nature generally behaves with them as with relatives. The iron becomes covered with rust and becomes the color of the earth and bark. Nature does not reject ruins. Nature accepts them. And fits into the landscape.
It's like he's saying: You're still a part of this world. Even this one. And nature is life itself. And it works like therapy.
And the ruins also provide a space for silence. For a pause in which you can hear yourself.
They remind us that no one is obliged to be restored to "how it was", they show that the value is not in integrity. You can be different. Rebuilt. Burnt out. Survived.
