Drogichin region (1 route): Zakozel-Volovel-Golovchitsy-Tolkovo-Antopol-Detkovichi-Subboty-Brashevichi-Perkovichi.

Description

Drogichin district is famous for its architectural monuments. In Belarus, Western Polesie is known for its wooden temples. Almost every village here has an ancient Christian shrine.

One of the most remarkable sights of this area is the chapel-tomb of the Ozheshko family in the village of Zakozel. This temple is considered one of the most striking examples of the Neo-Gothic style in Belarus. Zakozel will be the first point of the route. Next, we will visit a number of places where we will see local shrines.

In the town of Volovel, a unique two-towered 18th-century Baroque temple has been preserved to our time.

A wooden Orthodox church has been built in the village of Golovchitsy, which dates back to the time of the Great Patriotic War.

In the village of Tolkovo we will visit the wooden Orthodox Church of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God, built in 1905.

The town of Antopol has been known since the 18th century. There are still stone pre-revolutionary houses, cobbled streets and buildings of interwar Poland. We will visit local attractions - the Resurrection Church of 1854 and an unusual building in the style of constructivism - the former church of Andrei Boboli.

In the Drogichin district, in the town of Detkovichi, we will see the wooden Orthodox Church of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos.

In the ancient village of Subboty, we will visit the stone Orthodox church built in 1797. One of the most famous Uniate monasteries in Belarus was located here, where meetings of the leadership of the Basilian Order sometimes took place.

In the town of Brashevichi, we will see the stone Orthodox Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord. During the time of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, a Catholic church and a Uniate church were built here.

The last point of the route is the Visloukh Manor in Perkovichi in the style of late classicism combined with Baroque elements. Opposite the manor there is a Uniate church, also built in 1805 and preserved to our time.
