Buda-Koshelevo, Chechersk and Vetka districts: Buda-Koshelevo - Chechersk-Zhelezniki-Vetka-Khalch.
Description
We start our tour in Buda-Koshelevo, where the museum of the works of the People's Artist of the USSR, the brightest representative of the Leningrad School of Painting, Evsey Evseevich Moiseenko, is located.
The next destination is Chechersk, one of the most ancient cities in Belarus. During its long history, it was part of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, and the Russian Empire. The city was visited by Emperors Alexander II and Nicholas I, Empress Catherine II, and Pushkin visited it twice.
First we'll see the Transfiguration Church, built in 1783, then we'll visit the Chernyshov-Kruglikov Palace, built in the early 19th century.
The architectural dominant feature of the historical center of Chechersk is the town hall, built in the second half of the 18th century in the classical style with elements of pseudo-Gothic.
There is a historical and ethnographic museum in the town hall, where you can get acquainted with the history of the city, its traditions and heritage.
Nearby is Castle Hill, a mute witness to its former greatness. Now there is no fortress, castle, or palace here: only the moat has been preserved, and in the place where the bridge was once located, there is now a sand dam along which you can cross to Castle Hill.
On the way we will visit the Church of St. Nicholas in Zhelezniki, which was opened in 1900.
Next, you will find the Vetka Museum of Old Believers and Belarusian Traditions, the only museum in Belarus dedicated to Old Believers. This is a very interesting museum with rich unique expositions and excellent exhibits.
We finish our tour at the Khaletsky manor in the village of Khalch, built in the early 19th century in the late classicism style. In 1887 a famous artist and composer Napoleon Orda made a sketch of the entire estate. Thanks to him, it is possible to trace how beautiful and rich the Khaletsky estate was in the 19th century.
Come here and get to know the sights and beauties of these places better!
