Beshenkovichi region: traces of history.
Description
We are going on a tour of the Beshenkovichi district and its surroundings! We will visit Martinovo, Slobodka, Svecha, Beshenkovichi, Ulla, Ivansk and Ostrovno.
Let's start with the Holy Trinity Church in Ulla, built in a retrospective Russian style with a high tiered belfry.
Then we will see the Church of the Holy Spirit, built in the classical style. Previously, it was decorated with two three-tiered towers, but they were demolished during the Soviet era. There are also remnants of earthen fortifications here.
In Martinovo, we will see the ruins of the Red brick Church of the Intercession, made in the pseudo-Russian style.
In Ivansk, let's pay attention to the ruins of the Volodkovich estate, which served as the family's residence for almost a century. Rare books and family archives were kept here.
In Svecha we will see the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, a monument of eclecticism of the 19th century, combining Gothic, Byzantine and classical elements.
In Slobodka we will visit the church of St. Nicholas, built of red brick in the neo-Russian style. Nearby there is an old cemetery with ancient gravestones and two stone crosses.
In Beshenkovichi we will see the church of the Holy Prophet Elijah, an example of the pseudo-Russian style with cross vaults on four pillars.
Next, we will visit the Khreptovich Palace, a U—shaped monument to classicism, next to a partially preserved French-style park.
We will finish the trip to Ostrovno, where the Church of the Holy Trinity (1564) is located, which is included in the State List of Historical and Cultural Values of the Republic of Belarus. The architecture of the facades is laconic, the massive walls 1 m thick are pierced by window openings.
