2026 is the Year of the Belarusian Woman! Famous representatives of different eras.
Description
2026 has been declared the Year of Women in Belarus!
This is a great opportunity to look at the history of the country through the prism of women's destinies - from legendary princesses and saints to heroic mothers, talented writers and brave businesswomen.
The beginning of the journey is in Polotsk, near the memorial sign "Cradle of the Belarusian statehood". Two great women are depicted here: Princess Rogneda, a symbol of the beginning of Polotsk's history, and Saint Euphrosyne of Polotsk, the first woman in our lands to be canonized.
The spiritual thread of the route leads to the grave of Blessed Valentina of Minsk and to the monument of the righteous Sophia of Slutsk. Both of them, despite the trials (Valentina - 30 years of immobility, Sofia - early death), have become symbols of sacrificial love and protection of faith.
A completely different, but no less vivid image of a woman is presented in Gomel. Princess Irina Paskevich went down in history as a philanthropist and philanthropist, the "good fairy" of the city, who preserved its cultural heritage.
In Bobruisk, the story of the merchant Katsnelson, whose entrepreneurship and love of beauty gave the city a unique wooden house with an unusual fate.
The tragic twentieth century was reflected in granite and bronze in a new way. The monument in Zhodino dedicated to Anastasia Kupriyanova is a requiem for all the mothers who lost their children in the war.
The monument to Vera Khoruzhey in Pinsk recalls the indomitable courage of the underground worker, and the grave of actress Pavlina Myadelka in Budslav commemorates the figures of the Belarusian renaissance who went through exile and repression.
The route is rounded off by places associated with women of art: Eliza Ozheshko House Museum in Grodno, Evgenia Yanishchits Literary museum in Porechye, a monument to the poet and revolutionary Alois Pashkevich in Shchuchin and a modest sign in Kolodnoe, reminiscent of the artist Gelena Skirmunt.
